🌺 Sacred Vibrations: Music For The Soul 🌺

Saturday, October 18, 2025 | 2 Shows: 6:30 PM & 8:00 PM
Around the Kava Bowl – Captain Cook, South Kona’s Premier Venue

✨ Join us for an unforgettable evening of soulful, heart-opening music with two of Hawai‘i’s most inspiring recording artists on island:

Maka – Voice of Aloha ‘Āina

Maka, a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award finalist, is one of Hawai‘i Island’s most passionate and authentic voices. With a commanding vocal presence, a distinctive ukulele style, and a sound that blends reggae, soul, and island influences, her music uplifts, inspires, and connects.

Born and raised in South Kona with family roots on Moloka‘i, Maka is more than a recording artist—she is a cultural practitioner, activist, and community leader. Her songs embody the message of aloha ‘āina (love and respect for the land), honoring Hawaiian culture, environmental stewardship, and the values of resilience and community.

A mother of four who homeschools her children while living off-grid, Maka infuses her music with lived experience, faith, and authenticity. Her album Simple Life features radio favorites I Need A Lift and I and Aina Not For Sale, while her 2023 release Ua Mau (feat. Koaikapono) paid homage to Hawai‘i’s state motto: “the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.” Her music speaks to both personal experience and cultural pride, weaving messages of love, resilience, and revolution, inspiring local and global audiences. With her undeniable stage presence and talent, she has performed alongside leading Hawaiian musicians and conscious music stages with artists such as Mike Love.

Beyond music, Maka founded He Makana Aloha, a nonprofit that provides free music education and instruments to keiki across Hawai‘i, and has been active in community recovery efforts, including supporting Lahaina families after the 2023 wildfires. Her artistry and activism make her a vital cultural ambassador for Hawai‘i.

In 2025, Maka enters a powerful new chapter with her forthcoming album Revolution showcasing her signature island-reggae-soul sound that speaks straight to the heart and spirit of change. The first single, When Will We Be Free (feat. Petroglyph), released in July, calls for freedom, unity, and transformation, written and recorded with her husband and family band 808 Ohana. On September 19, she released the title track Revolution, amplifying her message that true change begins in our hearts—and that love is the ultimate solution. These releases mark the beginning of a bold new era for Maka, solidifying her place as one of Hawai‘i’s most inspiring voices for justice, culture, and aloha ‘āina.

Avasa & Matthew Love – Music That Awakens the Heart

Avasa & Matthew Love are a husband-and-wife duo whose music blends soulful harmonies, devotional lyrics, and world rhythms into a transcendent sound that uplifts, unites, and heals. Performing at premiere yoga festivals like Bhaktifest, conscious gatherings, and international stages with Jason Mraz and Lumineers, their concerts are more than music—they are a celebration of joy, connection, and spiritual awakening.

Their journey began in Los Angeles at the Gratitude Café, where they met and began creating music rooted in love and conscious living. With Avasa’s soulful voice, harmonium, and djembe playing—rooted in her West African heritage—and Matthew’s rich, resonant vocals and guitar style often compared to Cat Stevens and Johnny Cash, the duo quickly developed a sound that is both timeless and transformative.

Their debut album, Love is King, Love is Queen, produced by Robin Livingston, introduced their genre-crossing style blending reggae, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop with uplifting tracks like Sister, Brother, Lovin' Yourself and Let Your Love Shine Through. The album featured collaborations with MC Yogi and inspired a cover of their song Listen by devotional pop artist Donna De Lory. Their follow-up album, The Road, released through White Swan Records (home to mantra legends Deva Premal & Miten and David Newman), deepened their reputation for creating spiritually charged, anthemic music. With tracks like Mama Come Save My Soul, Thanks and Praises and Lord Lifts Me Up, the record bridged devotional chant, soul, and reggae, finding its way into ceremonial world music playlists worldwide.

Today, their music reaches thousands of listeners online. Recent releases include I’m In You / Sat Nam and Oneness, combining English lyrics with sacred mantra, alongside the uplifting folk-inspired Light Is In The Air and You Make Me Smile. Together, these songs celebrate the beauty of life, divine love, and the spiritual connection that binds us all.

Avasa & Matthew Love continue to share their music at international festivals, conscious gatherings, and sacred spaces, reminding us of music’s power to heal and connect. They live in Honaka'a on their family's multi-generational 3-acre homestead.
