Event description

You’re invited to a special screening of Contaminated, a short documentary about the alarming rise in Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Hobart and the potential link to our drinking water.

Over the past four years, the number of people with MND has doubled in Hobart, and experts warn that industrial pollution and inadequate water testing could be contributing to this crisis. TasWater’s inaction is putting lives at risk.

Join us to hear from Dr. Frank Nicklason, a local neurologist and specialist in neurodegenerative diseases, as he shares insights into the potential environmental and health impacts. John Kelly, father of MND sufferer Paul Kelly, will speak on the personal toll of this disease and why stronger water regulations are vital for the community’s safety.

After the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Dr. Frank and other local experts. Learn about the steps we can take as a community to restore our water supply, demand stricter regulations, and prevent further harm.

You can watch Contaminated, directed by @conorcastleslynch, on our website now. The documentary explores solutions for mitigating the damage already done, but time is running out. We have until November 15 to sign and submit a petition to Parliament, urging immediate action.

Every signature counts. Let’s come together to protect our water and our future.
