    Event description

Have you ever wondered how anyone can juggle being a parent and adventurer, all while travelling the world, working as a guide and living in two different countries? Anna Keeling is here to tell us how she does it and shares her top tips for safe winter adventures, talks about Protect Our Winters and shares the stage with a special guest!

Anna Keeling was born and raised in Ōtautahi/Christchurch. Mostly due to a guy (her husband of 25+ years), she now calls Castle Hill Village and Salt Lake City, Utah home.

Mother of one free-ride teenager who's been educated in both NZ and the US, and wife of a documentary filmmaker, Anna will talk about juggling guiding work, adventuring and parenting from NZ to the USA, Antarctica, Africa, Asia and Alaska (which should be its own country). An IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations) guide for more than 20 years and former adventure racer, she has a few yarns to tell and ideas for making it work (including figuring out how to retire from work that is highly physical and risky).

As a bonus, she'll also share her top tips for getting sorted for a safe winter in the mountains (there may be more than 5!)

Anna won't talk too long as she is also on the board of Protect Our Winters and wants the night to be about the work of this good organisation.

BONUS:Mike Green is an engineering meteorologist and specialises in South Island Mountain forecasting and regularly teaches forecasting. He'll be sharing his knowledge about how to interpret clouds as part of winter weather field forecasting.
