Event description

You're invited to participate in this funded LivingWorks safeTALK workshop and become a 'Connector'.

In this training delivered by VetHerd and funded by Flynn's Walk, you will learn to talk openly about suicide, identify when someone is having thoughts of suicide and connect them with further help in a 4-hour, face-to-face workshop.

This training also allows you to practice your skills and helps you to address myths and barriers around suicide.

Flynn's Walk is proud to be hosting & funding this workshop for the Melbourne veterinary community using funds that have been raised through our events, walks and sponsorship.

The session is open to all members of the veterinary community and extends to friends, family or support-givers for people in the veterinary field.

    About VetHerd:

VetHerd is an industry based suicide prevention program for the vet industry initiated by two Queensland veterinarians - Dr Kat Williams and Dr Alena Gadoury. The high rate of suicide in Australian veterinarians is a complex problem which requires a national response and multi-sectoral collaboration. They believe an essential part of the solution is a multimodal workplace-based suicide prevention program designed for and by the industry.

By building the suicide prevention capacity of our herd, they are creating a national network of safety in which any member of the veterinary community is never too far away from help. For this to be an effective and sustainable movement we need everyone to share the responsibility of keeping each other safe from suicide.
