Event description

Dive into the art of traditional tattoo-inspired prints!

Over 3 hours you will create your own motif or character reminiscent of the Sailor Jerry days. Think bold and illustrative!

Norman Collins, better known as Sailor Jerry, was a pioneering tattoo artist from the mid-1900s. Famous for his bold, colourful designs his designs featured classic pin-up girl imagery and nautical motifs such as anchors and swallows.

The brief:

  • You will be guided on how to use lino carving tools and printmaking inks to create your own unique design that you will want to frame!
  • Most of the class will be spent carving the lino.
  • You will take home 2-3 prints.
