SALA Closing Soundbath with Michelle Shanti at Artworx Gallery 10-12 Hays St, Goolwa

Doors open to public @ 4.45pm Soundbath begins at 5pm

Event Duration 90 minutes

Soundbaths are a wonderful modality in which participants are easily able to reach deeply relaxed and peaceful states. It is literally being 'bathed in sound!'

Experienced sound practitioner Michelle Shanti easily guides participants into a restful physical state through a spoken body scan relaxation. Then, the sounds of Himalayan and Crystal Singing Bowls, Gongs, Handpan, Chimes, Soothing Vocals, Rainstick and Ocean drum, each take the listener deeper into peace, into that centred state that exists within each of us when we make the time and space to enter it. The Soundbath finishes with a vigorous percussive section leading into a short period of silence to punctuate the sound. Upon conclusion, participants are gently invited to make their way back to a seated position, ready to share their experiences or ask any questions that may arise.

According to the British Academy of Sound Therapy, Soundbaths may not be suitable for the following: Women in the first trimester of pregnancy, or any of the following medical conditions: seizures, epilepsy, clinical depression, bipolar or any serious mental health conditions. Please advise Michelle if you if you have any metal implants or plates in the body (other than tooth fillings).

What to bring: Even though we will have the heating on, laying still for extended lengths of time during Soundbath can create a drop in body temperature, so please rug up in warm comfy clothing! You'll need a thick layer between you and the floor to lay down on! For the floor layer: some stacked yoga mats and a folded woolen blanket, or a camp mat, plus any pillows and cushions that you would like, and a warm wrap or blanket(s) on top too. You may like a light scarf to cover the eyes and a bolster or rolled blanket for under your knees. Alternatively you may sit, please let us know upon booking if you require a chair. In this case still bring a blanket to wrap up in!

Michelle is a qualified Sound Therapist, Musician and Yoga Teacher and has been guiding sound journeys since 2013. You can find out more about her work at https://shantisound.com.au/
