This event is part of a series of in conversation literary talks. The main conversation will be followed by an opportunity for audience members to ask questions, and then to meet the authors at a book signing afterwards. Drinks may be taken into the theatre. Seating is unreserved. Arrive early and browse the fascinating and fabulous exhibits at Qtopia Sydney.
Hayley Scrivenor is a local crime novelist based in Wollongong who achieved international success and acclaim with her debut novel Dirt Town. Published in 2022 it became a bestseller both in Australia and overseas and won multiple prestigious literary awards. Her second novel Girl Falling set in the Blue Mountains was published last year but has just been published locally in a new edition. Hayley will be chatting about her writing, crime fiction, and her international success with Sydney queer literary icon Maeve Marsden of Queerstories fame.
Hayley Scrivenor is an internationally best-selling author. Her first novel, Dirt Town, won a number of national and international awards, including the ILP John Creasey ‘New Blood’ Dagger, a Lambda Literary award in the LGBTQIA+ Mystery Category, and an ABIA for General Fiction Book of the Year. Girl Falling is her second novel.
Maeve Marsden is a writer, theatremaker and the Creative Director of Varuna the National Writers’ House and the Blue Mountains Writers’ Festival. She is best known for producing Queerstories, a national storytelling project that has brought more than 500 LGBTQIA+ writers to stages around the country for the last ten years. She likes gin, dancing, and TV melodramas with good politics and bad dialogue.
