Event description

Are you an artist living and working in the Goulburn Valley looking to strengthen the business side of your creative practice?

Join us at the Shepparton Art Museum for Art as Business, a two-day professional development intensive designed to support and upskill regional artists. Across the weekend, you’ll gain insights into the creative industry, connect with other artists, and explore new ways to sustain and grow your arts practice.

The program features hands-on workshops and engaging presentations covering a range of key topics, including copyright, communication, grant-writing, and installing your work.

Program summary:

  • Know Your Rights with Kay Abude
  • Install 101 with Nick Baylart
  • Financing Your Practice with Evan Lowenstein (Director, Lowenstein Arts Management)
  • How The Heck Do I Write About Art? With Sarah Walker
  • Social Media & Marketing Your Practice with Beci Orpin & Kati Hogarth
  • Classroom Critique with Lachie Petrie
  • Grant Writing Panel Discussion with Gabriella Calandro & Amelia Kingston (Grants Manager, Regional Arts Victoria)
  • Opportunities for Regional Artists in Victoria with Bryony Large
  • Clay Studio Workshop with Aleisa Miksad

Delivered by artists, arts workers, and professionals from across the state, this intensive offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from industry experts and peers.

Due to limited capacity, registrations are essential; ticket price includes catering and complimentary access to Artist Networking Evening (Friday 16 May, 6pm to 8pm).
