    Event description

    Join internationally-exhibited artist Frances Cannon for this exclusive, after-hours life drawing class inspired by the bodies of current SAM exhibition Ryan McGinley: YEARBOOK. Taking place inside the gallery, attendees will be guided by Cannon as they capture the poses of a life model using variety of mediums, from crayon to charcoal, over the 90 minute session.

    No sketching or life drawing experience needed – don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn from a much-loved artist whist experiencing SAM after dark.

    Please note:

    • This is a life drawing class with a nude life model. Attendees must be aged 16 years and over.
    • Photography by non-SAM Staff will not be permitted.
    • This is an after-hours event. After-hours access to the museum before or after this program is not available.

    Session 1: Thursday 2 May, 6.00-7.30pm

    Session 2: Thursday 20 June, 6.00-7.30pm

    Location: Lin Onus Gallery, Level 1, SAM, 530 Wyndham Street, Shepparton

    Price: $66 (inc. GST) per person (Friends of SAM members receive 10% discount)

    About Frances Cannon 
    Frances Cannon (they/them) is a queer, multidisciplinary artist based in Melbourne/Narrm. They have solid practices in many mediums including pen and ink, oil painting, digital design, silversmithing and occasionally ceramics and soft sculpture. Frances is well known for their simple yet nuanced style of illustration. Frances' work examines ideas of body-love and body-loathing, anxiety, relationships, sex and sexuality, gender, and bodily functions. Their work can be viewed as diaristic as it is based on personal experience. Frances has had many successful solo shows locally and internationally. They have worked with Teen Vogue, Gucci, Refinery 29, Third Drawer Down, and have been published in Vogue, Frankie, Yen, Teen-Vogue, Bustle, HuffPost, Dazed and Confused, Vogue, SBS Australia, i-D Mag, Rookie and many more. Frances is the co-owner and director of Pink Ember Studio in Coburg.
