Sam Scully Quartet + This is Nhu Double Bill
Event description
Join Sam Scully Quartet and This is Nhu for a double-bill debut of original contemporary music at "It's Still a Secret".
Sam Scully Quartet:
Sam Scully Quartet is a Brisbane based jazz project which explores original compositions heavily influenced by contemporary jazz artists like Pat Metheny, Brad Mehldau, Mark Guiliana, Avishai Cohen, Keith Jarret and Shai Maestro. Led by upcoming drum wizard Sam Scully, a Bachelor candidate at Queensland Conservatorium gaining notoriety through jazz-metal band Valtozash, each performance is an intricate collection of sincere improvisations, energetic outbursts and explorations in between. The quartet is rounded out by the highly creative and skilled musicians Martin Kay (alto sax), Will Ellerton (piano) and Brendan Scully (upright bass), each contributing to the discussion with a unique voice. Through their collective vision the band invites listeners to immerse themselves in a fresh fusion of widespread influences.
