Join us for a hands on experience in learning MARCAÇÃO (1st, 2nd, 3rd), REPIQUE, CAIXA, TAMBORIM, CHOCALHO, AGOGO, RECO-RECO

A “Bateria” is the percussion section of a Samba School.

In Carlos’ hometown, Rio de Janeiro, there are often up to 300 percussionists playing in one Bateria!
Course participants will learn to play a range of Brazilian Percussion rhythms, build their knowledge of musical forms and master drumming techniques in a fun Bateria environment led by Mestre Carlos.

Classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Genuine Brazilian instruments provided or BYO : (SURDO + strap+ beater), (REPIQUE + strap + drumstick), (CAIXA + strap + drumsticks), (TAMBORIM + beater), CHOCALHO, AGOGO or RECO-RECO)]

Please be advised that we need a minimum of 10 participants to go ahead, refunds will be issued if we do not meet that quota.

NOTE: Please come 10 minutes early to help set up the percussion space.

Workshop offically finishes at 8pm, however students are welcome to stay for the ongoing play session.

Students will have the opportunity to perform at the Moonah Sounds of the World -Harmony Day - event on Saturday March 25th.
