Samba Beats Kirtan Night

Event description

Join us for a soulful evening of rhythm, mantra, melody, and community connection! Bring your instrument of choice and learn to play a Samba-style kirtan rendition of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" with local sacred music band Ashraya.

Kirtan is the singing of ancient Vedic mantras and the sacred names of the Supreme. Rather than being a type of performance, kirtan is a journey of self discovery. Weaving together melody, music and mantra with people responding to the words of the leader, clapping, swaying and sometimes dancing, kirtan is simultaneously a meditative, exhilarating and fun activity. The eternal wisdom contained in the yoga texts explain that these mantras are transcendental sounds endowed with unlimited spiritual potency. They purify one’s consciousness and bring deep spiritual insight and inner happiness.

This evening kicks off with a mellow kirtan session and guided meditation, setting the stage for an evening of harmony.

Next, an insightful yoga wisdom talk from Radha Krishna das will deepen your understanding of the timeless practice of kirtan.

Then, we will share a nourishing plant-based community meal, fostering connection with like-minded souls.

After dinner, the kirtan jam magic begins! Join a circle of kindred spirits as we all learn a samba-infused mantra cover of Coldplay's iconic "Viva La Vida." This interactive experience allows you to let go and immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythm and melody, creating a collective sacred music tapestry.

Come and experience the transformative power of music and community! Don't forget to bring your own instrument and get ready to be swept away by the rhythms of the heart, the song of the soul. See you there!
