Samford Valley is opening the gates to a selection of our most inspiring private and community EDIBLE gardens for a day of sharing and inspiration!

Join us on Sunday, May 16, 2021!

These are just some of the things you will see on the Trail:

a suburban back and front yard fully converted into raised garden beds - they grow and preserve an abundance of food
a stunning permaculture garden blending perennial vegetables, fruits, and flowering plants
a 10 year old subtropical food forest built on what was some of the poorest soil in the region and is now a microbial masterpiece of soil life
a tradie’s garden complete with mini swale vegetable garden and orchard built on a slope, soil created from truck loads of horse manure, and upcycled wicking beds
a tree changer couple’s cottage garden, complete with raised beds, and orchard, a herbal tea garden and of course... chickens
clever landscaping to capture water run off into swales of dwarf bananas, an enclosed growing area with fruit trees, pineapples and passionfruit - all protected from birds, and a terraced garden beds for easy access and useability
a sustainable house and garden, with a subtropical orchard with over 220 trees, 80 bush tucker trees, and an aquaponics system you won’t believe
pLUS two of our local farmers show the amazing results they are achieving with their small scale diversified organic farming methods

Every visitor MUST have a ticket (even kids with free tickets) so we can comply with COVID Safe requirements.

Important Open Day information

Ticket holders will receive the Edible Garden Trail Guide in the week before the event containing Samford Edible Garden Trail Map and addresses for your visit.
Please note that while we love our furry friends, dogs are not permitted at any of the Open Day venues.
Please wear sturdy footwear, sunscreen and a hat.
Samford Village is wheelchair friendly. More information on accessibility for each garden will be provided in the Trail Guide and on our website soon. Most gardens are fairly easy to access, but some have uneven ground, different surfaces, and sloping areas.
The Samford Edible Garden Trail Open Day is operating under a Queensland Government Covid Safe Event Checklist. In purchasing a ticket, you agree to comply with the requirements of this checklist as directed by our volunteers, including practising good hygiene, social distancing, and regular hand sanitising.

The Samford Edible Garden Trail is a community, not for profit initiative, supported by the Samford and Districts Progress and Protection Association. Any profits from this event will be used to support the establishment and continuation of edible gardens in schools and our local community.
