Samchykivka (Ukranian Folk Art)
Event description
Create, experiment, and learn about the colourful Ukrainian folk-art style, Samchykivka. Participants in this workshop will learn about the origins and characteristics of this unique style of folk art and use their new-found knowledge to create their own Samchykivka-style greeting card to take home.
Anna Mykalchuk is an artist and author-illustrator who works in the Ukrainian folk-art style named Samchykivka. Anna loves to explore the connections between people and the diversity of nature. Anna came to nipaluna/Hobart in 2022 with her family and says that creating and sharing Ukranian folk art continues to provide a point of pride and connection to her country and her culture.
