Sanctuary
Description
‘Sanctuary’ is a newly composed contemporary music production of sixteen original pieces by Louise McKenna Travers, and poetry by Jen Fraser. Inspired by local issues and themes, ‘Sanctuary’ explores and celebrates the quest for environmental, social, cultural and personal sanctuary in our changing and challenging world. It will be staged at the Denmark Civic Centre 5.00pm on Saturday 27 June.
Eighteen months from conception to performance, this four-suite narrative - Forest, Heart, Journey, Sanctuary - will feature Woven Women’s Vocal Ensemble, Swing Into Sing children, and soloist Nola Formentin, accompanied by a diverse eight-piece line-up of musicians.
In the creative vein of the acclaimed 2024 production of ‘Waltz for a Sky Queen’, sound engineering by Jon Dodd, lighting by David Nile, and artworks by Jenny Wilson and other local artists will delight both new and return audiences.
A silent auction for the environmental art pieces that graced the stage will take place in a post-performance get-together, which includes a complimentary light supper, and Forest Hill wines for purchase.
