Space Architecture Symposium & Lunar Construction Demonstrator
Event description
Join us for this exciting full-day event that combines a cutting-edge design showcase and expert discussions with lunar construction demonstrations to define the future of human habitation in space.
The Space Architecture Symposium (SAS) is supported by the AIAA Space Architecture Technical Committee (SATC) and will bring together global experts to discuss and present the evolving challenges and opportunities for deep space habitation. The event will present outcomes from the Space Architecture Decadal Survey 2025-2034 and will feature an exhibition of Off-Earth Design proposals from around the world.
The Lunar Construction Demonstrator (LCD) will showcase Australian capabilities in additive manufacturing and robotic construction for off-earth applications. Crest Robotics, supported by the NSW Government, will unveil their world-first dynamic six-legged robot, Charlotte, with a unique earth-bagging lunar construction technique developed with Earthbuilt Technologies. Also see presentations by experts in 3D concrete printing and sintered regolith construction including LUYTEN 3D, Astroport Space Technologies and 3VIMA.
The event offers a unique convergence of design expertise and construction technologies for anyone interested in off-earth construction and human habitation in deep space. Space industry professionals will have opportunities to network with space architects, engineers, and designers while experiencing the technologies that will enable sustainable space habitation.
Organised by Dr. Amit Srivastava, Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources (ATCSR), Adelaide University.
Hosted by ARC Centre for Next-Gen Architectural Manufacturing (ARCH_MANU), UNSW Kensington.
