Sashiko Embroidery Brooch Workshop

Join Jun from Sashiko Adelaide to learn HITOME-ZASHI, a beautiful form of Sashiko stitching. This technique follows a grid guideline with vertical, horizontal and diagonal stitches that gradually reveal intricate geometric patterns.

In this workshop you can choose from two HITOME-ZASHI patterns.

• KAKI-NO-HANA - which means persimmon flower. This pattern is one of the most popular HITOME-ZASHI patterns.

• KOME-ZASHI - this simple pattern resembles the Japanese kanji for kome (米), meaning “rice. It is the very basic HITOMEZASHI pattern.

In this workshop you will learn:

• The basic method of HITOME-ZASHI stitching.

• How to stitch the KAKI-NO-HANA or KOME-ZASHI pattern

• How to turn your stitching into a charming brooch

This adult workshop is suitable for all skills levels including beginners.

All materials are provided (fabric, thread, brooch parts and instructions). Please bring your own Sashiko needle and thread clippers from home if you have these. Needles will be provided for use in the workshop or for purchase for $3 on the day.
