SaturYAY Comedy @ Roost Bar

SaturYAY Comedy is a one-night only comedy night showcasing some dynamic kiwi talent at Roost Bar, Whāngarei.

We have a double bill- the first half featuring Auckland comics Itay Ben Dom (MC), who has been on the Auckland comedy scene for the last 8 years and most recently was seen getting eliminated from the Bachelorette NZ. He can be heard on Radio New Zealand and has written for popular comedy shows such as 7 Days and Have You Been Paying Attention.

Chester Jerrat - is a regular on the NZ comedy scene, with nominations for Best Newcomer and Breakthrough Comedian by the NZ Comedy Guild. He has performed across New Zealand including at the NZ International Comedy Festival. Chester was a finalist on TVNZ New Bloods and performs regularly at the Classic Comedy Club.

Keegan Govind - a hilarious, fast paced and high energy act with material to back it up with the ability to create an atmosphere for a fun night.

The second half is a show in its' own right: Wellington based, Joana Joy presents her sold out stand up show with dance, STANDING STILL, before taking it to Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. With a career of more than 10 years as a professional performing artist, a string of accolades across the Antipodes as herself anfd cabaret alter-ego, Banana Joile, (Splendour in the Grass Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Falls Festival, ACC ads, Australia’s Got Talent Finalist) Joana Joy is definitely “an entertainer clearly unafraid of, and at home with, both herself and her audience."(Theatreview NZ). 

Ironic winner of Australia’s Funniest State/ Territory (Adelaide Fringe ‘23), this seasoned comic, ex-professional dancer navigates the delicate balance between doing and being in  STANDING STILL. The show promises to be an unforgettable evening of stand-up, punctuated by moments of electrifying dance (maybe even a Muay Thai demonstration), all set to a playlist controlled by YOU, the audience.
