Saunders Safety & Training - Mental Health First Aid #4

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Each year, one in every five Australians will experience a mental illness and has been identified as the fourth highest disease group contributing to burden of disease on Australian population. The COVID-19 global pandemic has only sought to increase and/or magnify the distress and frequency of mental health problems in society. As society and the community start to return to a pre-pandemic way of living; the need to identify, support and guide those around us should be seen as priority especially in the workplace where many of us spend much of our time. At Saunders Safety & Training (SS&T); we understand the need for Australian Business to review and improve their own capability in the mental health environment. We are pleased to have partnered with Anna Feringa; an award-winning International Speaker, Author, Trainer, Health & Safety Influencer and Mental Health Consultant to bring you our fourth installment of the Mental Health First Aid training.

This two day nationally accredited course provides practical information about key mental illnesses and first aid processes which can be applied to someone experiencing any of the following:

  • Depression, including suicidal thoughts,
  • feelings or behaviours
  • Anxiety, including panic attacks
  • Psychosis, including severe psychotic episodes
  • Effects of alcohol or substance disorder, including
  • high levels of intoxication.

Upon course completion, participants receive a nationally recognised  certificate and qualification as a Mental Health First Aider; provided by Mental Health First Aid Australia
