Save Our Oceans – Film Night (Brisbane)

Join us in Brisbane for a special film night, Save Our Oceans — an inspiring evening of thought-provoking short documentaries by leading French and Australian artists.

This event is a collaboration between Culture Plus, a not-for-profit Australian organisation, and People For Nature, an environmental charity dedicated to connecting people with nature, with the support of the Alliance Française de Brisbane. The evening is free and open to all.

2026 Film Selection: Save Our Oceans

This year’s theme, “Save Our Oceans”, features carefully curated short films, with a total screening time of approximately 1h.

Each film is introduced with a short presentation highlighting the artist or organisation behind it. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with ocean experts exploring perspectives across science, art, conservation, and community action.

Enjoy a drink offered by Allinace Française de Birsbane and explore a fine art photography exhibition by French-Australian artist François Detaille

Artist and scientist Jérémy Gobé uses traditional French lace motifs to support coral regeneration in the Pacific.

In this dramatic video installation, Tongan-Australian performance artist Latai Taumoepeau denounces rising ocean levels and their impact on Pacific communities.

10. Dancing the Biodiversity

A ballet featuring French children dancing in front of UNESCO to celebrate biodiversity and inspire action.

11. Operation Crayweed
Jennifer Turpin & Michaelie Crawford / Turpin+Crawford, 2016 — Australia
Artists and children raise awareness of the restoration of crayweed along Sydney's coastline, supporting efforts led by marine scientists.
