Save Our Snow Campaign Launch: Planting, Stories and Climate Conversations - AlterCOP 30 Day 1
Event description
Co-founded by The Matcha Initiative and The Transmutation Principle, AlterCOP Summits aim to keep corporate and the public informed of COP proceedings and outcomes, facilitate discourse and knowledge learning on corporate sustainability in a localised context, foster collaboration among various actors (professionals, academics, youth, NPOs, community groups, and policymakers) and inspire action.
As Australia prepares to potentially host COP31, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to open up climate dialogue to all and show that local actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change are already happening across different communities.
Running alongside the United Nations (UN) COP30 agenda, the four-day event will foster grassroots ownership of global climate goals while amplifying local and regional engagement across Australia.

Save Our Snow Campaign Launch: Planting, Stories and Climate Conversations
Protect Our Winters Australia is bringing the community together in Bright for a day of action, connection, and conversation.
In partnership with Upper Ovens Landcare, we’ll kick off the afternoon by rolling up our sleeves for local revegetation and site care—helping restore and protect the landscapes we all cherish.
As the sun sets, we’ll come together for a screening of Purple Mountain—a powerful POW US film about finding common ground to tackle the impacts of climate change, already reshaping mountain communities around the globe.
The evening will flow into an open conversation with Landcare, Friends of the Earth, the Resilient Alpine Youth Squad, and the POW NE Vic Local Alliance, exploring how we can build resilience and stronger community connections to protect our Alps.
This gathering also marks the Bright launch of POW’s Save Our Snow Campaign—a call to action to address the root causes of our disappearing winters and ensure future generations can enjoy the mountains as we do today.
