NZ has issues. An unfunded retirement system and ageing population. Not enough homes. Not enough capital. What if we could save our way to a better future?

Simplicity chief economist Shamubeel Eaqub believes we can, despite the many headwinds from inflation, unemployment and grim geopolitics that seem to be worsening our standard of living and economic opportunities for our young.

In our September 17 Catalyst Kōrero, Shamubeel will unpack the past decisions that have led to this economic and social cul-de-sac and discuss a way forward that is fair, practical and sustainable for all:

For millennials and Gen Zers, who already feel umbrage at boomers’ advantages in housing affordability and free education when they were young, and who currently face a huge future burden of superannuation costs from far fewer active earners.
For boomers who had banked on super at 65 and whose bodies and bank accounts are already broken.
And everyone in between…

What role could or even should KiwiSaver play in retirement, housing and investing in New Zealand?
