Save the Koala Day Friends of the Koala Luncheon
Event description
We are holding a fundraising luncheon on Save the Koala Day. It promises to be an event you will not want to miss.
This is your chance to meet some of our volunteers and staff including one of our vets to hear from them directly about koalas in the Northern Rivers - and yes - there will also be a short, cute koala video!
We also have a special speaker lined up, no other than Geoff Cousins AM who has made a name for himself as businessman turned environmental activist. Read more.
Don’t miss your chance to enjoy fine food, bubbly on arrival and great company. There will be an auction and raffle drawn at the lunch.
Come and join us for a fun and informative luncheon on Save the Koala Day on Friday, 27 September 2024. Why not round up some friends as well?
The reason for this luncheon is two-fold. We want to make new friends and share what we know about koalas in the region AND we need to raise money to keep our work going, especially for the Northern Rivers Koala Hospital as we are running out of money. Please consider becoming a Friend of the Northern Rivers Koala Hospital to keep our work going.
This way you can help us rescue and treat over 350 koalas each year.
We need to raise $500,000 per annum to cover the annual operating expenses and keep the doors of the only Koala Hospital in the Northern Rivers open. Our costs are low because of the enormous contribution our more than 240 volunteers make, so your support goes further.
Your donation is tax-deductible in Australia and will go towards medicine, hospital equipment, veterinary staff, pathology testing, laboratory supplies and ground-breaking koala health research projects.
We care for more sick, injured and orphaned koalas than any other Koala Hospital in New South Wales, Queensland or Victoria. The Northern Rivers Koala Hospital treats over 350 koalas each year, and this number is ever-increasing. We are the only wildlife hospital in the region custom-built for and dedicated to koalas, with a Koala Care Centre and Research & Diagnostics Laboratory on-site.
We have proven that the Northern Rivers Koala Hospital is highly effective and vitally important in order to achieve our goal of saving koalas in our region. Since it's inception in 2019, our Koala Hospital has more than doubled the survival rate of rescued koalas admitted to our onsite Koala Care Centre. Friends of the Koala has successfully rehabilitated and released over 2000 koalas back into the wild.
