Join CheckUP for their Free Skin Cancer Early Detection Workshop in Townsville.

Facilitated by Dr Jeremy Hudson, the workshop will cover essentials in skin cancer medicine and surgery, featuring a core theory session covering topics such as:

  • Basics of dermoscopy and diagnosing common skin lesions
  • Sampling lesions effectively
  • Using algorithms; 3 point checklist, and prediction without pigment
  • Case discussions (participants are welcome to being their own cases to discuss)

And a hands-on practical session, covering:

  • Injecting local anaesthetic
  • Performing curettes, shave and punch biopsies
  • Elliptical excision planning, and closure
  • Suturing - basic interrupted, deep dermal, pulley sutures, haemostatic stitch

Upon completion attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance which can be used to claim CPD hours.

    Dr Jeremy Hudson is the Clinical Director at North Queensland Skin Centre and Chair of Dermatology at RACGP. Dr Jeremy works full time in skin cancer medicine and surgery and has extensive qualifications in the field.

    Coordinated by CheckUP the Skin Cancer Early Detection program has a focus on regional towns, aiming to create fairer access to the professional assessment and treatment of skin cancer for people who have a skin cancer risk.
