Event description

Guided by Ms. Maki Ueda, award winning olfactory artist and teacher, explores the fascinating science of pheromones and the link between scents and personalities. “The Tale of Genji” is a classic work of Japanese literature written by the noblewoman, poet, and lady-in-waiting Murasaki Shikibu around the peak of the Heian period, in the early 11th century. Workshop participants will sample the scents of the ladies of the poetic novel of the Japanese court, after which you will create your own scent sachet that reflects your personality. This program is made possible with support from the Japan Foundation Los Angeles and the Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities.
