Description

Smell can be difficult to put into words. We often describe it by naming its source, or reaching for something it reminds us of.

Scent Syntax is an afternoon brought together by Nose Magazine, Humble Ego and Smell Art to explore how we describe what we smell. Over two hours, we’ll smell, write and compare our notes.

Tickets are $80 and include a copy of Nose Magazine Issue 02, a KOLIDO discovery kit and a Humble Ego journal. Wine & sweet treats provided.

Sunday 15 November, 3-5PM

Level 4 Room 14, Nicholas Building, 37 Swanston Street, Melbourne

About Nose Magazine:

Nose is an independent print magazine cultivating olfactive curiosity, operating out of Naarm/Melbourne. Exploring scent through art, literature, science and culture, Nose publishes work that expands the way we think about smell. Our first issue was released in May 2025, followed by the second issue, Primed, in March 2026.

About Humble Ego:

Humble Ego is a journal brand born with a mission to be the ideal blank canvas for self-expression. Our name celebrates the paradox at the heart of creative growth: the balance between standing tall in one's worth without losing touch of the humility needed to keep learning, expanding and connecting. Our goal is to get people to return to pen and paper, and use writing and creativity as part of their self-care practice.

About Smell Art:

Smell Art merges the worlds of science and art to create sensory experiences rooted in the sense of smell. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Smell Art specialises in innovative scent design and smell education, from immersive installations for galleries and museums to scent live music, theatre and film screenings, as well as workshops, smell talks and public talks.
