This 24-hour workshop series aims to introduce you to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). We will discuss the motives and principles of SoTL, consider how SoTL can inform your teaching practice, and explore how you can incorporate a scholarly lens to your practice. As participant in this 24-hour series, you will also have an opportunity to work through the practicalities of mounting a SoTL project from conceiving a research question, considering ethics and identifying funding opportunities to collecting data, conducting analyses and disseminating your work. The series consists of five 2-hour synchronous sessions and four asynchronous sessions during which you’ll work independently, with standby support from our educational developers.

At the end of this workshop series, participants will be able to:

Describe the key characteristics of SoTL
Critically examine current scholarship in teaching and learning
Develop a SoTL research question arising from own teaching experience or discipline
Identify SoTL research strategies
Understand the SoTL research process from conceptualization to dissemination
Conduct a literature review based on a SoTL question
Disseminate literature review
