ABOUT THE BOOK 'SCHOOL FOR LIFE'

School for Life is the story of what becomes possible when one person believes that all children deserve to thrive.
In 2008, Annabelle Chauncy, a 21-year-old Australian university student, visited a school in Uganda, a country that had the highest school dropout rates in the world. Shocked by what she saw, she decided to act. Eighteen years later, her foundation, School for Life, is educating more than 4,500 young people, employs 150 Ugandans, and has profoundly changed the lives of thousands of students, their parents, and the communities in which they live. Most of these children are the first in their families to finish high school. Many go on to attend university. All will use their education, in big and small ways, to help break the cycle of poverty.

Told with raw honesty and unwavering compassion, this story is a powerful reminder of how the world can change when a determined person with a vision decides it should.

Annabelle Chauncy OAM

Annabelle Chauncy is the co-founder and CEO of School for Life. She grew up in rural New South Wales and has devoted her adult life to delivering quality education to children in rural Uganda.

She holds Bachelor degrees in Arts and Law. Her achievements in the not-for-profit sector and in entrepreneurship have been recognised at the highest levels, including being awarded an OAM and winning NSW Young Woman of the Year in 2015.

Georgie Gardner

For more than three decades, Georgie Gardner has been part of the fabric of Australian broadcasting. She is one of the most recognised and trusted faces in the country.

Georgie presented Nine News for close to twenty-five years, on bulletins across the day, and she remains the only Australian to have done the late bulletins on the three networks. She was also a popular member of the Today Show for nine years, as the news reader and co-host. What has cemented her connection with audiences is Georgie's integrity and authenticity.
