    Event description

“In this exciting drawing lesson, kids will develop their creativity, motor skills and visual perception skills. They will explore the wonders of the gallery and the current exhibition Planetary Gestures”

    Workshop

In this workshop kids will be taken on a guided tour through the current exhibition, Planetary Gestures. They will learn basic drawing techniques, using pencils, pens and drawing materials.

    Exhibition

Planetary Gestures explore ideas surrounding ecological systems, ancient knowledge, celestial blueprints and tidal movements across the land, sea and sky known as Australasia, part of the wider Asia-Pacific and the ‘Great Ocean’. This framework brings together a range of artists who think deeply about alternative geographies; paying respect to the cultural continuum and envisioning a future, not only equipped with this knowledge, but also actively enacting it.

Cycles of movement and time are explored by Australian and international artists including Amrita Hepi, Susie Losch, Raqs Media Collective, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jimmy John Thaiday and Trevor Yeung.

    Your facilitator

Katrina Iosia is an arts educator and artist who trained in printmaking and studio practice and is highly regarded in the digital design and art fields. She’s recently relocated from Auckland, NZ to Cairns to deliver art education and experiences with NorthSite Contemporary Arts.
