Event description

School Holiday Expert LEGO Workshop

Does your teenager love to build LEGO sets? Join us for a fun day of LEGO Building! At our School Holiday LEGO Group you can re-construct Lego, while helping re-cycle toys, all for a good cause.

How it works:

  • We supply partial Lego sets and instruction

  • We supply a small mountain of loose Lego pieces

  • You supply the enthusiasm and expertise to find the missing pieces and rebuild the Lego set

Ages: 12-16 (inclusive)

Location: Joy of Giving Hub, 382 Pacific Highway, Crows Nest NSW 2065

Time & Session:

Join us for 1 day for smaller projects or all 3 days to allow time to complete larger or multiple lego sets.

  • Wednesday 1st of October Session 1: 10am - 1pm

  • Thursday 2nd of October Session 2: 10am - 1pm

  • Friday 3rd of October Session 3: 10am - 1pm

Cost to cover venue $55 for 3 days, or $25 per day.

3 hour Lego Workshop

  • Explore Toys: Learn about toy lifespans and environmental impact (Session 1 only)

  • Play with Lego: Find the missing pieces to build full sets from instructions provided!

  • Lunch: Get to know new people in your community that share an interest in Lego building. (Please provide your own lunch)

  • Support Joy of Giving and help fund a bicycle infrastructure grant for public schools through sale of completed Lego sets built by you!

What do I bring with me:

  • Any toys, games, and books that are in good working condition and suitable for reuse. This includes any old Lego sets suitable for reuse (built or not) to donate and use on the day (limited to one shopping bag of items)

  • Food and Snacks for Lunch (nut free)

Simple rules to follow when donating:

  • Ask yourself: Is this item good enough for my friends or another kids?

  • Check that all battery-operated items (toys, games and books) are working condition and replace their batteries when necessary (this is a safety issue)

  • Battery-operated toys should have battery cases secured by screws or other means to prevent children from prying them open.

  • We may refuse any items that are not in the desired condition, which you will need to take home with you.

While building exciting or even challenging LEGO sets we will explore the importance of sustainability and the joy of giving back to both the environment and our community. In re-constructing Lego sets you will help fundraise for school bike facilities and be positively contributing to the environment by saving plastic toys from landfill.

In Australia, 27 million toys end up in landfill annually, contributing to 6% of global plastic landfill waste.

This workshop will guide both children and adults towards sustainability and community building through the simple act of sharing toys rather than letting them go to landfill.
