In this art workshop kids learn soft sculpture techniques to create their unique underwater themed bag tags inspired by the current exhibition Planetary Gestures.

In this workshop kids will learn the basic fundamentals of pattern making using the templates provided or create your their own unique bag tag. They will be using needles and thread to learn basic sewing stitches to sew together an amazing little masterpiece. Materials are supplied, or bring own fabric.

Materials: a mixture of fabrics and felt, needle and thread

Suitable: 6 years - 15 years

About the facilitator:

Katrina Iosia is an arts educator and artist who trained in printmaking and studio practice and is highly regarded in the digital design and art fields. She’s recently relocated from Auckland, NZ to Cairns to deliver art education and experiences with NorthSite Contemporary Arts.

Katrina has built this school holiday program to launch NorthSite Art Studios at 55 Greenslopes Street, Cairns.

So, book in and bring your kids along in April to enjoy the hands-on fun and creative skills development!

There are two sessions available, please note the times before booking:


Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to settle in.

On street parking is available on Greenslopes Street, near the Chinese Friendship Gardens and in front of NorthSite Art Studios,


Please byo snacks and drinks.
An adult must remain for the duration of the workshop.
