Description

Urban Wildlife Sketchbook invites children to slow down, observe, and celebrate the wildlife that shares our urban environment through art and creativity. Guided by a qualified art teacher, participants will explore local wildlife and habitats while experimenting with a range of artistic techniques and media.

Through observation, artistic expression, and discussion, children will discover what wildlife lives in our cities, where they live, and how wildlife and people coexist in shared spaces.

Designed for children who enjoy both creativity and nature discovery, this program encourages participants to see the natural world through new eyes while developing confidence in their artistic skills.

The session is for children aged 8–12 due to the level of independence, observation, and creative tasks involved. The program cost includes materials, and each participant will receive their own sketchbook.

Every great conservation story begins with connection! Through art, observation, and imagination, participants will develop a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that shares our city and be empowered to celebrate, care for, and protect the environment around them.

FAQs

  • Are tickets refundable?

In general, our programs are non-refundable due to the fact that our school holiday programs are self-funded. If you have concerns or want to discuss your refund circumstances, please contact us at education(at)gecko.org.au.

  • Why is there age limits to these school holiday programs?

Our programs are carefully designed for specific age groups to ensure every child has a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experience. The activities, learning outcomes, level of independence required, and physical demands of each program are tailored to specific age groups. This way, we can ensure that participants can fully engage with the content, follow safety instructions, and get the most out of their experience.

  • What are the children required to bring?

The children are required to bring drink bottles, a small snack, enclosed shoes and a hat in a bag that they can look after. And please remember to wear sunscreen!
