    Event description

    Step into the world of Sidney Nolan's iconic artwork Riverbend, and embark on a creative journey inspired by the legendary tale of Ned Kelly. In this immersive workshop designed for young teens, participants will delve deep into the Australian landscape and the enigmatic figure of Ned Kelly as they explore painting and mono printing techniques.

    This workshop will begin with an introduction to Sidney Nolan with an engaging presentation about the artist and his masterpiece Riverbend. Learn about the historical context and how Nolan interpreted the landscape and the story of Ned Kelly. We will dive into the captivating Australian landscape and the snaking river and rugged terrain depicted in Riverbend. Participants will sketch their interpretations of the landscape, focusing on capturing its essence and then create a collaborative installation using painting and monoprint techniques to create an artwork.
