School issues: where to go for help - Wed 26 Feb 7.30pm
Event description
School issues: where to go for help is a free 60-minute online webinar hosted by ACD for families of school-age children with disability or developmental delay in Victoria.
Issues at school can be very stressful for students with disability and their families. Speaking up can be challenging and emotional, but raising a concern can help address these issues and improve the situation for your child and others.Â
This webinar will explain the types of help available, the options to take an issue further, where to go for assistance, and the approach to take.Â
Speakers:
- Dan Stubbs, the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner will outline the types of concerns the VDWC assists with
- Frank Handy, the Chair of the Independent Office for School Dispute Resolution will focus on how they work with students, schools and families and their mediation, resolution-based approach.
- Karen Dimmock, CEO of ACD will talk about the ACD Support Line and the advocacy support that ACD provides for families.
- Liana Buchanan, the Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People will discuss how they resolve concerns around reportable conduct and what the Commission does.
