School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport - Spring Oration
Event description
The School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport invites you to attend an oration with special guest speaker Professor Kate Webster.
Oration title: Lessons in knees: anterior cruciate ligament injuries in an Australian context.
Australians love to play sport. However, some of our most popular sports have a high risk for knee injuries. One of the most devastating knee injuries is a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and Australia has the highest reported rate of ACL reconstruction surgeries in the world. This oration examines the physical and psychological aspects of this injury and explores the epidemic of ACL injuries we are currently facing in young, particularly female, athletes.
