Science and Religion

As part of the Progress & Purpose series, the St James' Institute hosts a lunchtime conversation on the entangled history of science and religion with Dr Nick Spencer, who is Senior Fellow at Theos, a London-based public theology think tank in London. Nick's writing on this theme includes The Landscapes of Science and Religion, Playing God: Science, Religion and the Future of Humanity, and Magisteria: The Entangled Histories of Science and Religion.

Nick Spencer will be interviewed by Nick Ingram, a parishioner at St James' King Street and principal of Clear Thinking Consulting, before the discussion opens to everyone. This is ideal for anyone working in scientific research or policy, or interested in scientific questions from theological or biblical perspectives.

A light lunch will be provided. Please register for catering purposes. While donations towards costs are welcomed, this is a free event and they are entirely voluntary.

Dr Spencer holds honorary or visiting positions at Bishop Grosseteste University; St John’s College, Durham; and University College, London, and is a Fellow of the International Society of Science and Religion. He is also host of the influential podcast Reading Our Times. He is visiting Australia as a guest of ISCAST, the St James' Institute, CPX, and the Wesley Centre.
