Science in the Club: Nature-based Solutions for flood resilience
Event description
Richmond Landcare Inc are hosting a Science in the Club event as part of Richmond RiverFest 2025.
This engaging evening will explore how Nature-based Solutions are being used locally and globally to build resilience against flooding and restore healthy landscapes.
Guest speakers include:
Professor Roslyn Prinsley (ANU, Head of Disaster Solutions at ICEDS) – sharing examples from around the world where communities are successfully using nature-based approaches to reduce the impacts of floods.
Louissa Rogers (Project Manager, Richmond Landcare) – presenting the Nature-Based Solutions Project: Building Flood Resilience in the Lismore Catchment, a pilot project that is using reforestation as a Nature-based Solution in the upper catchment.
After hearing from our two presenters there will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion of how nature-based solutions can be used in our own catchments to improve river health, resilience to floods, and mitigation against the negative of effects of flooding.
Nibbles will be available on arrival. Dinner and drinks are available to purchase from the club.
Richmond RiverFest has been made possible with support from the Australian Government and North Coast Regional Landcare Network through the Care for Catchments project. Richmond Landcares Nature-Based Solutions project received funding from the Australian Government.
