Science near the Scrub with Eyrelab!
Event description
Come down to the American River Community Hall for an evening of presentations around the future of ecotourism and dealing with the Harmful Algal Bloom around regional South Australia.
Join us for a couple of engaging presentations by special guests Manny Katz and Dr. Dominic Mcafee - leaders in South Australian ecotourism and marine ecology, respectively.
We'll explore how tourism, particularly the ecotourism industry centred around the Giant Australian Cuttlefish, serves as a powerful tool for science communication, community engagement, and seasonal economic stability. Dr. Dominic Mcafee will also share his pioneering research into oyster reef restoration, highlighting how these once-abundant ecosystems can be revived to boost biodiversity, improve water quality, and reconnect communities with their coastal heritage. Together, these presentations will provide real-world insights into how tourism and science work hand in hand to foster environmental awareness and stewardship across South Australia.
