Event description

Healthy water supports a healthy future for our kids and grandkids. Central Government policies can help or hinder our regional and community efforts to protect and restore waterways, but how can we keep up with all the policy changes when there’s so much going on? Marnie will break down the lay of the freshwater policy land, what is on the horizon, why it matters and how you can support the policies that support healthy water.

Our guest speaker, Marnie Prickett is a Research Fellow at Otago University’s Department of Public Health.
Marnie has a background in freshwater ecology and agricultural science. She’s been involved in community restoration and monitoring projects, campaigning on freshwater issues. She’s also been an advisor to the government on freshwater policy and to state-owned farming company Pāmu (Landcorp) on improving protection for the environment. Her current work focuses on freshwater policy and the communication of water issues, with a particular focus on drinking water source protection.

Nau mai, haere mai! This is a FREE event held in the front bar of the Harbourview Hotel.
Arrive early if you want to order dinner, a drink and snag a good table.
Science Night commences at 7pm.
