Join us to explore the fascinating world of fungi, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and learn from David's wealth of knowledge as an amateur mycologist and passionate citizen scientist.
David Whyte, a trained scientist (biotech industry) turned amateur mycologist, has contributed significantly to fungal observations on inaturalist.nz with nearly 4000 recorded observations, including exotic and indigenous fungi.
As a passionate educator, David believes in making learning fun and accessible to all. He has appeared on live TV and has done presentations around New Zealand on a range of fungi topics.
David is an active participant of Mushroom Hunting NZ, a vibrant Facebook community with nearly 60,000 members, and has discovered multiple indigenous fungi that are new to western science.
Nau mai, haere mai! This is a FREE event held in the front bar of the Harbourview Hotel.
Arrive early if you want to order dinner, a drink, and snag a good table. Science Night commences at 7pm.
