Description

Let us teach you how your science degree can change the world!

You've done the assignments, the research, built the skills. Turning that into an impactful career? Not exactly part of the curriculum. That gap holds back both your career options and the influence your science could have.

Come along for a night of real insight from people using science in practical ways every day, plus a hands-on challenge where you help solve a real-world problem. And there's a prize!

ABOUT:

Hear from four amazing speakers working across science communication, policy, education, and industry sharing what they studied, what changed along the way, and how they're using science to create impact today. A guided panel discussion and Q&A follows.

You'll then partake in an 'Impact-a-thon', where you'll join a multidisciplinary team to work through a real scientific challenge with guidance from the expert speakers. Teams will pitch their solutions to a judging panel, with one team taking home a prize.

Throughout the night, there will be informal networking for you to ask questions and make connections.

OUR SPEAKERS

Adele Carney - Bushfire Risk Analyst at The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action

Dr Azu Azhan - Manager, research strategy and clinical trials at Safer Care Victoria

Dr Edward Attenborough - Lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University

Dr Julia Ryeland - Ecological Consultant at Symbolix

WHO IT'S FOR:

Undergraduates, postgraduates, and recent graduates across all science disciplines. No experience necessary, just an interest in where science can go.

See the range of ways science can create impact, and find where you might fit in.
