We are delighted to have Dr Michael Johnston as our first guest speaker for the SCPA - Speaker Series 2024 to discuss the topic:
The Science of Learning: from Year 1 to Adults. How to master numeracy and literacy skills to solve complex problems.
Dr Michael Johnston is a Senior Fellow at the New Zealand Initiative and leads the workstream on education. His 45-minute presentation will include tips for parents about how to enable a great learning environment for our learners. Afterwards, there will be a 15-minute Q&A session, followed by tea and coffee.
Literature and research have confirmed that our learnings are affected by a number of factors, including environment, frequency and teaching style. This presentation examines how to improve our learners' cognitive load and transfer mastered skills into long-term memory. By building on the foundation of numeracy and literacy skills, learners can master their skills to solve complex problems.
