Mon, Dec 29, 11am - Tue, Dec 30, 3pm PST

Event description

SCRAP is beyond excited to be partnering with the Museum of Stop Motion Animation to offer a unique winter 2-day workshop for young creators ages 11-17!

Along with our usual themes of creative reuse, for this TWO-day winter break session, participants will learn hands-on from experienced stop motion fabricators about the art of puppet-making. Participants will apply techniques by using aluminum wire and epoxy putty to create an armature skeleton for their puppet. Repurposing materials, they will finish their puppet by layering exterior elements like foam, fabric, fiber, and paint. Students will leave with tips and resources about how to bring their puppets to life!

Will you make a scruffy cat? Will you make a loveable snowman? Maybe even make a mini-you! What kind of character will you make?

Note: Participants will not in this workshop be creating an actual piece of stop motion film; this workshop is primarily for the creation of the puppet to be used in future projects.
