Event description

CHARLOTTE REGAN | 2023 | 84 MINS | UK

Rated PG

Georgie is a 12-year-old from the outskirts of London. Funny, gobby and resourceful, Georgie decides to live on her own after her mum dies, and she’s doing a good job of convincing the world and herself that she’s coping.

Then comes a knock at the door. The boyish 30-year-old with bleached hair is Jason, Georgie’s dad. It’s been that long she doesn’t recognize him. Georgie must decide for herself if she can trust this unknown quantity calling himself dad. Turns out they both have some growing up to do.

With newcomer Lola Campbell totally inhabiting the lead role of Georgie and Harris Dickinson, who you may have seen in Triangle of Sadness, portraying the hapless but loving father, this film brims with energy, ideas and colour.

“With this sunlit film, writer-director Charlotte Regan is not making the usual gritty example of working-class naturalism we expect from the British.” – Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald
