    Event description

This panel explores the tensions in contemporary screenwriting, development and screen directing across drama, documentary and hybrid screen forms. A panel comprised of creative industries academics, established and ‘indie’ filmmakers will probe the tensions between the increasingly ‘managed’ space of screen production today (institutionally and commercially) and plight of creatives seeking to deliver new visions, new stories over and above screen ‘content’. Questions of authorship, artificial intelligence and creative career sustainability will take centre stage.

    Panelists:

    • Associate Professor Alex Munt (Co-Facilitator)
    • Professor Rachel Landers (Co-Facilitator)
    • Rowan Woods (President, Australian Director’s Guild)
    • Dr Anna Broinowski (Sydney University)
    • Partho Sen-Gupta (Independent filmmaker)

This is an official event as part of SXSW Sydney. SXSW Sydney badge holders will have priority access.
