Event description

Looking to enhance your interview lighting skills? Do your interviews look a little flat and uninteresting?

Screen Illawarra is running another Lighting workshop, for Exterior Lighting, with the ACS accredited cinematographer Glenn Hanns. This short course looks at some of the technical and aesthetic ideas to help make your exterior lighting skills more professional.

This is specifically targeted at people interested in learning about filmmaking, possibly about to make a film and need some tips, or who have an interest in working in the industry as a gaffer or cinematographer.

When: 28th of June 10am-2pm (with a 45min lunch break)

About our guest speaker/tutor:

Glenn Hanns been lighting for 30 years professionally and has seen many ways of lighting an interview. Having shot thousands of interviews himself, he has come up with some tricks and tips to help you elevate your lighting skills. Glenn is an accredited ACS Cinematographer whose award-winning work spans narrative features, documentary and music clips. He's passionate about lighting and loves sharing knowledge with others.


Topics include:

  • How to use light meters
  • Lighting Ratios
  • Reflectance vs Ambient light readings
  • Key/Fill/Backlight, background light, kickers, eye light
  • Book lights
  • Travel kits vs studio, location setups
  • Tips and Techniques

Come prepared with lots of questions, a keen attitude to learn, a notepad for your notes, and we look forward to seeing you there!
