Screen printing with Suzie Spencer I Reflections Project

Arts North West is working with local filmmaker Mike Terry, Ijumaa Stephenson and screen printer Suzie Spencer to capture the creative practices of the New England North West as part of our ‘Reflections’ project and touring exhibition.

Arts North West are hosting a screen printing workshop with Susie Spencer at the Museum of Printing, Armidale from 9.30 am – 4.00 pm on Saturday 29 July 2023 to be the subject of the film and touring exhibition.

The workshop will be about Suzie’s practice of silk screen printing and layering as well as the methodology of screen printing. Those attending create their own image, that will be combined with the images of others for a singular collaborative piece created through this layering process. Prior to the workshop, participants are asked to think of a simple image based on plants or geometric shapes to work with on the day. Each participant will go home with a silkscreen and collaborative print. Some of the collaborative works will be on paper from the internationally renowned Euraba papermakers and will be part of Arts North West’s touring exhibition ‘Reflections’. The screen-printing workshop will be digitally captured via video and photography to also be part of the exhibition. Willingness to have your image recorded and reproduced is a necessity of the workshop. If possible, please bring a hair dryer to reduce the drying times.
