從《跳舞時代》回味百年台灣流行音樂

簡偉斯、郭珍弟導演 第40屆金馬獎最佳紀錄片 中文字幕

片名源於陳君玉作詞、鄧雨賢作曲的流行歌曲〈跳舞時代〉，是古倫美亞唱片公司繼第一首賣座的台語流行歌曲〈桃花泣血記〉後，於1932年起大量企劃製作台灣元素創作流行歌的最初。

以16mm拍攝的紀錄片《跳舞時代》忠實描繪台灣1920～1945年斯土先賢執著台灣音樂的故事。從傳統戲曲及日、美風潮，到新創現在大家耳熟能詳的經典如〈月夜愁〉〈雨夜花〉等，記載日治時期這段台灣流行歌黃金時代的演進。此片不但成為少數於電影院播映的紀錄片，當年也頗具話題性。

TOROTO (トロット Foxtrot 狐步舞)

「Viva Tonal」是什麼意思？30年代古倫美亞唱片所發行的78轉盤上，一定會出現這兩個字，也就是「原音重現」的意思。

〈跳舞時代〉為客家作曲家鄧雨賢在台語作詞者陳君玉獲聘擔任古倫美亞唱機唱片公司的文藝部長時期所發行本土原創暢銷作品之一。歌曲曲調為二拍子，宮調式，五聲音階。四小節為一句之五句式結構。每句均為八分休止符接三個八分音符之節奏動機開始。第三、四句為節奏動機之模進發展。

● Scenario

The typical documentary films, describing people under colonial rule, focus on their tragic lives or their stifled outcries of oppression. A departure from this model, opening with a Taiwanese-language popular song, it returns to the scene of history with Ai-ai, a grandmother and former mega pop star. In early twentieth-century Taiwan, under Japanese colonial rule, young men and women moved to the rhythms of Western and Japanese music, dancing the waltz and foxtrot as they yearned for a fresh new world and free love.
