Family Secrets: New perspectives from Arab women filmmakers
To accompany its exhibition program, Samstag will present three documentary film programs at the Mercury across the year in partnership with the Documentary Film Society. Each pairing will be accompanied by a commissioned essay, and will also include a floor talk in the gallery the following week.

The Mother of All Lies
On a handmade set recreating her Casablanca neighbourhood, young Moroccan filmmaker Asmae El Moudir enlists family and friends to help solve the troubling mysteries of her childhood. There, she starts to unravel the layers of deception and intentional forgetting that have shaped her life.
The Mother of All Lies won the awards for best director at Un Certain Regard, and the Golden Eye for best documentary at the Cannes Film Festival.
