Sculptural Coil Building

Join a small-group sculptural coil-building intensive designed for ceramicists with prior experience. Limited to 8 participants, this focused session explores form, scale, and proportion through hands-on making and guided direction. Over four hours, you’ll develop a sculptural ceramic piece using coil-building techniques. Moving beyond foundational skills, the session places emphasis on structure, balance, and refinement, supporting you to work with greater clarity and intention in your approach to form. Throughout the workshop, I’ll share insights into my process, including the key decisions that shape both the build and the final outcome. We’ll pause midway for a short break, with refreshments and light snacks provided. To close, we’ll move into a focused demonstration and discussion on finishing processes, exploring techniques that extend beyond what can be completed in a single session. I’ll share examples of my work, offering a deeper look at how sculptural pieces are refined and resolved from raw form through to completion.                                                                                            

About the Artist
Carly Pascoe of Coe Studio is a Northern NSW–based ceramic artist whose practice centers on sculptural, hand-built forms. Working across both functional and sculptural objects, she explores proportion, material, and process through traditional techniques. Alongside her studio practice, Carly facilitates workshops that focus on developing considered, refined approaches to ceramic form.
